In a field full of celebrities one name stands out at Pebble Beach this week, Tiger Woods (@TigerWoods). Tiger is making his 2012 PGA Tour debut and returning to this event for the first time since 2002 when he finished tied for 12th. The 2000 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am champion is looking for his first win on the PGA Tour since the BMW Championship in 2009.
Tiger will garner most of the attention but he joins a field with seven other winners of this event. D.A. Points (@DAPoints) earned his first career PGA Tour victory here last year although most of the attention went to his amateur playing partner, Bill Murray. Phil Mickelson (1998, 2005, 2007) is the only three time champion of this event in the field while Dustin Johnson (2009 & 2010) and Davis Love III (2001 & 2003) have both won here twice.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is the celebrity component. Bill Murray may be the defending champion but all eyes are on Tony Romo, who is paired with Tiger Woods. Romo joins other football notables including Nick Saban, Aaron Rodgers, Bill Belichick, and Jim Harbaugh. Comedians Ray Romano and George Lopez make their return to entertain the crowds. AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Groups To Watch
3. Hunter Mahan & Geoff Ogilvy: Both of these players made their 2012 debuts at the Farmers Insurance Open a few weeks ago. Mahan (@HunterMahan) was impressive and finished in a tie for 6th while Ogilvy (@GeoffOgilvy) made the cut but finished in a tie for 50th.
2. Phil Mickelson & Kevin Na: Does anyone know which Phil Mickelson will show up this week? In his first three events of the season he missed the cut once and is yet to crack the top 25. He's shown flashes of brilliance and moments that leave his fans wondering what he is doing. Either way he's fun to watch so keep an eye on him. Kevin Na (@TheKevinNa) earned his first PGA Tour victory in 2011 and has a bright future on The Tour. He's made three of four cuts to start the 2012 season and finished tied for 5th last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
1. Tiger Woods & Tony Romo: Tiger's professional playing partner is Arjun Atwal (@arjunatwal) but most of the focus will be on him and Romo. In four starts this season Atwal is yet to make a cut. Hopefully playing with Tiger gives him the boost he needs to return to 2010 form. Tiger is my pick to win this week and I don't think anyone will be surprised if he does. This might be the only chance Romo has to win anything in his professional career (sorry, I'm a New York Giants fan) Tiger is my pick to win this week.
Picks to win:
@WAMGolfs: Tiger Woods
@999Places: Brandt Snedeker
